Day 1

Arrive in Gangtok

Pick up from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station or  from  Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri or from Pakyong airport near Gangtok.

Drive from NJP and Bagdogra takes around 4-5 hours, while Pakyong airport is around an hour drive from Gangtok main city. On your drive from NJP you can see the exuberant Teesta River flowing down the hill.

Check into a hotel on arrival in Gangtok. Rest of the day is at your own leisure.

Day 2

Gangtok City Tour

Gangtok city tour includes a visit to main attractions of Gangtok. These include the famous Rumtek Monastery, Flower show, Hanuman Tok, Institute of Tibetology, Tashi View Point, and Chorten Stupa.

Rumtek Monastery, one of the biggest monasteries in Sikkim, is a unique architectural wonder with high religious significance. This was built in 1960 by His holiness 17th Karmapa who was forced to flee Tibet because of Chinese aggression.

Flower Show is a place where you can see a whole variety of ornamental plants and flowers of Sikkim. A range of orchid flowers are on display here. You can also buy seeds to take away with you.

Hanuman Tok, situated on a hilltop, has a Hanuman Mandir. If the days are clear you can easily have a good view of the Kanchenjunga range from here.

Institute of Tibetology is a Buddhist museum and houses a large number of Buddhist scriptures. Close to the Institute of Tibetology lies the famous Chorten Stupa.

Tashi View Point provides an excellent view of Mount Kanchenjunga and far-flung North Sikkim Villages on clear days. This explains why there is always a gathering of tourists here. You can opt to pay for a telescopic view of mountains from here.

Day 3

Trip to Tsomgo, Babamandir and Nathula Pass

These are high altitude places you can visit during a day trip from Gangtok.

Tsomgo Lake, also called Changgu, is at an altitude of 12400 feet. This is a typical Himalayan Alpine lake with a lot of rainbow trout. Since the place is highly revered in Sikkim, tourists are not allowed to do boating or enter the lake.

Baba Mandir, situated at more than 13000ft, is also a highly revered place. The temple has been established and maintained by the 17th Mountain Brigade. The temple was built in memory of Baba Harbhajan, a soldier who is supposed to have martyred in 1960. But it is said spirit of Baba Harbhajan still safeguards Indian borders there. It is said that His presence has been acknowledged even by the Chinese soldiers.

Nathula, situated at an altitude of more than 14500 feet, is a testimony to how harsh conditions are encountered by our defence forces everyday. You can see on the side of China standing at this border.

Day 4

GANGTOK- DARJEELING
Check out of the hotel after breakfast and leave for Darjeeling. The route passes along Teesta River at several places. You can try rafting at Melli if you so want.
Check into a hotel in Darjeeling on arrival. Evening is at your own leisure. You can walk up to Chowrasta and enjoy a nice Darjeeling meal in the dinner.
Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 5

DARJEELING SIGHTSEEING

Get up very early in the morning to go on a trip to Tiger Hill. If skies are clear you can see a spectacular sunrise. Afterwards, go on to visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop. Return to hotel and have a nice breakfast.

After breakfast go on to visit Peace Pagoda, and Happy Valley tea Garden (from Road Side), and Tibetan Self Help Centre.

You can choose to have a Toy Train ride as well. Enjoy your evening relaxing and taking sips of world famous Darjeeling tea.

Overnight in Darjeeling.

Day 6

Drop at NJP/Bagdogra/Pakyong

Check out after breakfast and proceed to NJP/Bagdogra/Pakyong.
