Wayanad is nature’s paradise and has a number of attractions for tourists. Chembra Peak, highest in Wayanad, is one of the topmost attractions. One must go up the Peak by a moderately difficult hike. This is such a lovely experience.
Pookode Lake, surrounded by the Western Ghats and forests, is a gorgeous freshwater lake tourists must visit on a trip to Wayanad. Tourists can enjoy boating in the lake. Tourists should also make it a point to visit Lakkidi View Point. Lakkidi View Point, known for its nine hairpin caves, offers a mesmerizing view of the mountains in Wayanad.
Edakkal Caves, located in the Ambukuthi Hills, is a must visit for anyone. These caves have some unique pre-historic paintings, dating back to stone age.
Wayanad is known for bamboo works. A visit to the Bamboo Factory is highly recommended.
Wayanad is also home to a number of waterfalls. There are some beautiful falls here. Soochipara Waterfalls, Meenmutty Waterfalls, and Thusharagiri Waterfalls are some of those.
One should not miss the opportunity to visit Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, which is surrounded by thick evergreen forest, and a haven for several beautiful bird species.
A less known fact about Wayanad is that chocolates are made by people in homes at several places. So, one can buy some lovely chocolates here.
