Lachen
Lachen is a town in North Sikkim. Located at an elevation of 2,750 meters, Lachen has become quite popular among tourists. It is known for its lush vegetation that contains mainly grasslands and shrubs along with apple orchards. It serves as the base to visit the ever-beautiful Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. Lachen, which means 'big pass' also organizes an annual yak race, called the Thangu, in summer.
