Corbett National Park
Established in 1936 as Hailey National Park initially, Corbett National Park is named after the legendary naturalist and conservationist Jim Corbett. Spread over 1318sq km, of which 520 sq km is the core area, Corbett National Park is situated mainly in Nainital District but part of it lies in Pauri Garhwal and Almora as well. Known for its large number of tiger population, Corbett National Park area comprises of hills, marshy depressions, riverine belts, grasslands and large lakes.
