Places to visit

Besides seeing the confluence of the three sea waters, there are other attractions in Kanyakumari.

Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the most known attraction of Kanyakumari. Situated on a small island in the sea, Vivekananda Rock Memorial is the place where Swami Vivekananda did meditation in 1892. Vivekananda Mandapam and Shripada Mandapam are main attractions here. A massive Swami Vivekananda statue with the Indian Ocean in the background stands here. Adjacent to the Rock Memorial is another attraction of Kanyakumari – Thiruvalluvar Statue. The statue is dedicated to Thiruvalluvar, the biggest Tamil poet and philosopher. He had composed the famous Tamil work Tirukkual.

Our Lady of Ransom Church, dedicated to Mother Mary, is located near the beach with waves of ocean lashing against it from behind. There are several temples in Kanyakumari which tourists may choose to visit.

When in Kanyakumari, tourists should never forget about spending time on the beaches. Sea waves are usually very strong but there are some stretches where one can enjoy fun and frolic in sea water.
