Kanyakumari
Kanyakumari, also called Cape Comorin, is the southernmost tip of mainland India. Situated in Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari is uniquely situated at the confluence of three oceans - Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. Mostly known for its association with Swami Vivekananda, Kanyakumari is also a noted pilgrimage site, thanks to Bagavathi Amman Temple, dedicated to a consort of Shiva, situated by the side of sea. Kanyakumari is also center of Indian Catholicism. And, a good population of Kanyakumari follows Islam.
Kanyakumari is uniquely placed geographically. It is one of the very few places in the world where one can enjoy the unique spectacle of Sunset and Moonrise simultaneously on full moon days.
